Our Name

Still Hills Wait takes its name from a phrase of T. S. Eliot’s poem “Virginia,” which originally appeared in the April 1934 issue of the University of Virginia’s Virginia Quarterly Review.

Eliot had visited U.Va. the prior year to deliver the Page-Barbour lectures and likely wrote the short poem evoking the landscape of Madison County and the surrounding areas after his 1933 visit to the U.Va. campus in Charlottesville, VA.
